I’ve barely had any time to do this stuff recently but I had this weekend gone to myself so I worked on the platformer again. Nothing very new or fancy but I’ve added projectiles. Three types. One very generic projectile that will disappear as soon as it hits anything, then there’s fire which bounces along (which doesn’t happen in any other games that I know of o.o) and ice which slides along the ground. I spent longer than necessary playing with particles and just trying to make everything look nice. Then I modified the disintegration particle effect from my mini-game and made the melons explode properly when you hit them :P
This one didn’t seem quite milestone-ey enough to go on the main page but Dave’s done another video showing how AMT is starting to look. Still a long way to go but it’s making progress. It will start to look a lot better soon :/
Ok. So a little window into my brain. I just have to be working on SOMETHING. It’s just the way that I am. If I’m not working on some kind of project, my mind gets all weird and starts to make bad things happen, so I like to work on something creative all of the time. This usually means designing, graphicising, programming or testing games but sometimes my brain demands a bit of diversity. Sometimes clay modelling, drawing, painting, writing or some other craft. This time I got it into my head that it would be a good idea to design my own custom deck of cards… So I did. These cards are basically a five suit deck of standard playing cards but with values round the side for a triple triad like game and instructions for an advanced blackjack (English version which is an Uno like game). The design is very retro just because I was feeling retro when I did them. The actual cards have the traditional suits of the different historical types… Meaning ‘Hearts’ is also ‘Cups’ and ‘Water’ etc. You might have heard of the extra suit being called eagle, crown or aether (if you are from the 1800s). It is popular in island and certain parts of the US. It isn’t something I just made up. Big thank you to my sister for taking the photos for me.
Sephiroth about to be pwnd… Will he ever learn? reminded me so much of the scene in the nibelheim reactor. Maybe it was supposed to. Anyway, Final fantasy 7 has been my faveorite game for a good 8 or 9 years now I think. I’ve never felt so close to a piece of media. Someday I WILL make an RPG. :( Glad I saw this here. Nice pick-me-up.
